Job Title: Lead Pastry Specialist

Department: Bakery-Food Service

Reports to: Kitchen Manager/ Assistant Kitchen Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of the bakery department. Responsible for all preparation of quality bakery products for sale by the Bakery department, while providing customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

• Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact.

• Responsible for supervising and recommending disciplinary action for associates in department.

• Responsible for work schedules, assigning work, training, enforcing Company policies and SOP’s, productivity and communication with associates.

• Responsible for the processing of invoices, department reports, employee appraisals, inventory and supply ordering.

• Skillfully proofs and or bakes bakery items for display

• Decorates and finishes cakes, pies, and desserts

• Neatly writes on cakes upon customer requests

• Uses 20qt mixer to prepare fillings and frostings

• Readily services customers orders and prices products for customers

• Conducts floor checks, ensuring that the shelves are adequately stocked, products merchandised properly rotated, price integrity enforced according to company standards in bakery department

• Completes basic cleaning of department, by washing and sanitizing work tools and area

• Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use of proper safety procedures

• Able to listen to directions and follow through independently

• Have good communication and observation skills

• Able to work with a team and independently when needed

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

• High school / Secondary school diploma or GED

• Must be at least 18 years of age to operate machinery

• Possesses a food handling license

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Previous experience working with the public

• Proper baking skills and proper sanitation knowledge

• Ability to read and understand recipes and measuring quantities.

• Highly proficient in Bakery department products preparation and uses

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Air condition while in store, subject to heat when baking and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill or freezer

• Very fast paced
