What they need

Role Summary

The Rivian Procurement Program Management team is looking for a Lead Program Manager to support its Mid-Sized Platform (MSP) vehicle programs (R2, R3, R3X).

As a Lead Program Manager, you coordinate end-to-end Procurement program execution—program scoping, part sourcing, part tooling, part ordering, and change management—across MSP vehicle programs. You uncover and clearly articulate program risk to senior leadership, resolve cross-functional bottlenecks at the leadership level, and build the AI-ready data and process improvements that allow Rivian's programs to scale at speed.

This position is based onsite in Irvine, California and reports to the Sr. Manager of Procurement Program Management for MSP programs.

Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Own Procurement program execution across multiple programs and vehicle BOMs, with dotted-line reporting to Rivian’s Vehicle Line leadership team

  • Stakeholder Management: Engage daily with cross-functional Managers, Directors, and VPs, building the relationships needed for hard conversations that move the business forward.

  • Communication: Communicate as an expert interpreter across diverse groups, gaining buy-in on a clear vision and resolving conflict with minimal escalation.

  • Data & Reporting: Build and maintain robust, AI-ready Procurement data and program reporting that drive progress, not motion.

  • Risk Management & Problem Solving: Proactively identify and mitigate risk in ambiguous situations; independently resolve complex, multi-stakeholder problems.

  • Continuous Improvement & Special Projects: Optimize recurring processes and lead special Procurement initiatives (e.g. cost reduction programs, supplier localization efforts, and program content change requests) using a systems thinking approach.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Domain Expertise: Expert-level understanding of the procurement end-to-end lifecycle that informs senior leadership on strategy and risk.
  • Execution: Ability to resolve complex, multi-variable problems leveraging newly-developed relationships while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Operational Style: Operates with minimal manager input, acting instinctively to manage and prioritize a complex workload.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel as needed based on business needs, averaging 5-8%.
