Lead Product Engineer – Delivery Platform

1. Job purpose

To own the company's delivery-coordination platform end to end: collect feedback from the people who use it every day, turn that feedback into improvements, fix defects, release new versions safely and keep the system running reliably in production.

The role holder is the single technical owner of the platform. Development is carried out with AI-assisted coding tools as the normal way of working, so that one engineer can maintain and extend a system of this size.

2. Key responsibilitiesFeedback and product ownership

• Hold regular feedback sessions with operations staff, dispatchers, store users and riders, in person and by phone or WhatsApp.
• Record issues and requests in a single backlog, agree priorities with the Platform Owner and write clear acceptance criteria.
• Publish release notes in plain language so users know what changed.

Development and defect resolution

• Investigate reported problems to their root cause and fix them, adding an automated test for every fix.
• Design and build new features across the backend, database, web portals, WhatsApp channel and rider app.
• Keep business rules configurable through the platform's settings rather than hard-coding them.
• Use AI coding tools productively and review, test and take responsibility for all code they produce.

Release and operations

• Release new versions on a regular schedule using version tags, automated tests and a documented deployment procedure.
• Run the production server: deployments, backups and restore tests, security updates, logs and monitoring.
• Respond to production incidents, restore service, and record the cause and the preventive action.

Integrations and AI

• Maintain integrations with delivery partners' APIs, WhatsApp Business messaging, maps and payment services.
• Keep the in-product AI assistant up to date with every release.

Security, data and documentation

• Maintain user roles and permissions, protect customer and rider personal data and apply security fixes promptly.
• Keep technical documentation, release documents and the system's page map current.
• Provide basic training and guidance to users on new features.

3. Qualifications and experienceRequired

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience developing and supporting web applications that are used in production.
• Hands-on experience in Python, ideally with FastAPI, Django or Flask.
• Working experience with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL.

Preferred

• Experience in logistics, delivery, ride-hailing, e-commerce or fleet tracking.
• Experience in the GCC market.
• Arabic language (spoken or written).
