Lead Teacher – After-School Science Clubs

Love working with kids? Enjoy science? Comfortable leading a classroom?

Science Guys of San Antonio is hiring Lead Teachers to run our hands-on science clubs at elementary schools throughout San Antonio.

Our Lead Teachers are responsible for creating a fun, safe, and engaging experience for up to 15 elementary-aged students while presenting our prepared science curriculum.

The Job

You will:

• Lead a group of up to 15 elementary-aged students
• Present hands-on science lessons and experiments
• Explain science concepts in a way children can understand
• Keep students engaged and participating
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive environment
• Set up and clean up science materials
• Follow provided lesson plans and activity instructions
• Communicate professionally with school personnel and the Science Guys team

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Is 18+ years old
• Enjoys working with elementary-aged children
• Is comfortable speaking to and leading a group
• Has strong classroom/group-management skills
• Is dependable and punctual
• Is energetic, outgoing, and enthusiastic
• Can confidently follow and present a prepared curriculum
• Can create a fun learning environment while maintaining appropriate boundaries

Previous classroom management experience is preferred.

Experience as a teacher, tutor, camp counselor, coach, babysitter, youth leader, childcare worker, or similar is also valuable.

You Don't Have to Be a Science Expert

We provide the curriculum, lesson plans, and activities.

Your job is to bring the lesson to life.

We want someone who can take a prepared science activity and turn it into an experience that makes kids say:

"That was awesome!"

Schedule

Part-time, primarily after-school hours Monday–Friday.

Club sessions are generally approximately one hour, with additional time needed for arrival, setup, and cleanup.

Schedules vary based on school locations and available clubs.
