Lead Security Engineer

Job Description -We are seeking a Security Engineer to help maintain, manage, and continuously improve the security tools and controls owned by the Security team. The ideal candidate has a solid grounding in networking, systems, and security fundamentals, is comfortable getting hands-on with the tools we already own to get more value out of them, and can work well with other teams to implement and support security controls. This role will handle day-to-day management and escalations for our security tooling and contribute ideas and effort toward improving our overall security architecture.

Key Responsibilities-Manage, maintain, and support the day-to-day operation of security tools owned by the team.

• Handle and resolve escalations related to these tools, working with the SOC and other teams as needed.
• Identify ways to better utilize existing tools and licenses — configuration improvements, automation, unused features/modules, integration opportunities — rather than defaulting to new purchases.
• Work with networking, systems, and application teams to implement and roll out security controls and changes.
• Contribute technical input and suggestions to the Security Architect on improving the company's overall security architecture.
• Perform routine hardening, patching coordination, and configuration reviews on owned tools.
• Document configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures for the tools and controls the team owns.
• Assist with troubleshooting security and networking issues that require deeper technical investigation.
• Support audit, certification, and client security requirements by providing evidence and configuration details for tools you manage.

Required Qualifications-4+ years of experience in IT, networking, systems administration, or security roles.

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing/switching, firewalls, VPNs).
• Basic-to-working knowledge of systems administration (Windows/Linux, Active Directory).
• Understanding of core security concepts (least privilege, defense in depth, common attack vectors, vulnerability management basics).
• Ability to learn and operate vendor security tools effectively (training will be provided on our specific stack).
• Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with other technical teams.
