Lead Server — Opening & Closing Responsibilities

Spice House Buckhead is seeking an experienced Lead Server to join our front-of-house leadership team. This is a hands-on position for an experienced hospitality professional who can provide excellent guest service while helping management ensure the restaurant is properly prepared for opening and fully secured and reset at closing.

This is not an entry-level serving position. Applicants must have at least 5 years of serving experience and must have the availability and flexibility to work both opening and closing shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Serve guests while maintaining Spice House Buckhead’s service standards

Assist management with opening and closing the restaurant

Complete and verify opening and closing checklists

Ensure the dining room and server stations are fully prepared before opening

Confirm tables, service areas, menus, supplies, and server stations are ready for service

Help conduct pre-shift preparation and communicate daily specials, unavailable items, reservations, large parties, and other important information

Help organize and direct the serving team throughout the shift

Monitor the dining room and step in when servers need assistance

Assist with training and coaching new and existing servers

Ensure side work and assigned duties are completed properly

Help maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant

Assist with end-of-night guest and dining-room procedures

Verify server closing duties are completed before team members leave

Help ensure the restaurant is properly cleaned, reset, and prepared for the next service

Communicate service, staffing, guest, or operational concerns to management

Lead by example in professionalism, punctuality, teamwork, appearance, and guest service

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of restaurant serving experience — REQUIRED

Previous Lead Server, Server Trainer, Shift Lead, Captain, or similar leadership experience strongly preferred

Must have availability to OPEN and CLOSE the restaurant

Must have flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

Experience in a high-volume restaurant, upscale-casual restaurant, lounge, or nightlife environment preferred

Strong understanding of restaurant opening and closing procedures

Excellent guest-service and communication skills

Strong attention to detail and organization

Ability to confidently provide direction to other servers

Ability to remain professional and composed during high-volume service

Dependable, punctual, and able to take ownership of assigned responsibilities

Comfortable working closely with management, bartenders, hosts, kitchen staff, and other members of the service team

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of the floor.

The ideal Lead Server doesn’t wait for management to point out every issue. You notice when a section isn’t ready, when side work hasn’t been completed, when a server needs help, or when something needs attention before opening or closing.

You should be comfortable leading by example while still being an active member of the serving team.

Compensation

Tipped position — hourly wage plus tips/gratuities in accordance with applicable law.

Additional Lead Server responsibilities and compensation will be discussed during the interview.

Availability

Open and closing availability is required for this position.

Applicants who are unable to work both opening and closing shifts should not apply.
