Lead Software Engineer

Tech Lead / Lead Software Engineer (10+ yrs) – Buy-Side Firm | Singapore

A leading global buy-side firm is looking for a hands-on Tech Lead / Lead Software Engineer to join its Singapore team, taking ownership of the architecture, design and development of scalable, high-performance trading technology platforms.

This is an opportunity to combine hands-on software engineering, system design and technical leadership , working closely with global engineering teams across the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, resilient, event-driven trade processing platforms , supporting post-execution workflows, trade lifecycle management, fee calculations, distribution and cash flows.
• Own end-to-end system architecture, technical design and development , with significant involvement in building new platforms and modernising existing systems.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to a small team of approximately 2–6 engineers , driving engineering standards, code quality and delivery.
• Collaborate with global technology and business stakeholders to deliver robust, business-critical solutions.
• Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and development workflows.

Key Requirements

• Strong software engineering background in Rust, C#, Java or Python . ( 10+ yrs )
• Proven experience designing and building complex platforms, ideally involving greenfield development or major system migrations .
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and messaging technologies , preferably Kafka, although RabbitMQ, Solace, SNS/SQS or similar are acceptable.
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies , ideally AWS, although Azure or GCP are also considered.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers, either in a formal management capacity or as a technical lead.
• Prior experience within financial services , covering front, middle or back-office technology. Exposure to trade processing systems is highly desirable.
