Lead Substation Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space.

This role will lead substation engineering efforts across physical and protection & control (P&C) project work, supporting the full lifecycle from scoping through implementation. The position combines technical design leadership, quality oversight, and hands-on collaboration with internal teams and external clients on complex electrical infrastructure work. The ideal candidate will help ensure designs meet applicable safety requirements, client expectations, and project timelines.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $107,900 – $195,050 annually

Responsibilities

• Execute physical and P&C projects for substations.
• Conduct quality control checks on designs.
• Read and create substation design drawings.
• Generate and verify bill of materials for projects.
• Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code and client standards.
• Provide project lifecycle support from scoping to implementation.
• Occasionally visit construction sites and collaborate in-office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in substation design.
• Excellent communication skills for team and client interactions.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Proficient in quality control practices for design projects.
