Project Engineer III – Substation | Team Lead

Brightsmith is partnered with a trusted power engineering client on a critical hiring mandate as they continue to grow their substation engineering teams across the US.

They’re looking for PE-licensed Substation Engineers who want more than simply delivering designs, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of projects, mentor a small team, build client relationships, and have a say in future project opportunities.

The opportunity

You’ll lead a team of engineers and CAD designers, supporting substation projects across Physical Design and/or Protection & Controls.

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

• Lead and manage substation engineering projects from design through delivery

• Mentor and develop junior engineers, designers and CAD staff

• Act as a key point of contact for established utility clients

• Support client relationships, future project planning and business development

• Review and direct complex engineering deliverables and drawing packages

• Work across Physical Design, P&C, relay settings, commissioning and field support

• Take on increasing technical and project responsibility within a growing organization

What they’re looking for

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering

PE license, or an EIT who is looking for strong support to help reach licensure

• 4–10+ years of relevant substation engineering experience

• Strong background in Physical Design, Protection & Controls, or ideally both

• Experience working with electric utilities or utility engineering projects

• Comfortable mentoring engineers and designers and interacting directly with clients

• Strong technical and communication skills
