Lead Substation Engineer

About the Role:

We are hiring a Lead Substation Design Engineer with experience in both physical and/or protection & control (P&C) design. In this role, you will lead technical efforts on substation projects ranging from distribution to transmission voltage levels.

What You’ll Do:

• Act as the technical lead for substation design projects
• Prepare design deliverables including P&C (relay) and/or physical layouts
• Oversee and review work of junior engineers
• Ensure quality standards are met (QA/QC)
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and resource meetings
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• At least 5 years of experience in substation design
• Strong understanding of engineering standards and design practices
• PE license required
• Experience with quality control and mentoring junior team members
• Good communication, team leadership, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with protection and control systems or physical design
• Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Comfortable working independently and leading smaller teams
• Strong organizational and planning abilities
