What they need

Lead Switchgear Mechanical Assembly Technician

Schedules: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. | Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

Compensation & Perks: Weekly pay and full benefits starting day one.

A day in this role

You arrive to a clean, organized, and safety-focused shop. After the morning safety huddle, you review engineering prints and customer specs for the day’s switchgear and breaker builds. You lead ship-prep activities, mentor newer teammates, and keep a close eye on part availability. Throughout the day you perform in-process checks, make precise mechanical adjustments, document any discrepancies (including writing HFDs when needed), and coordinate ship-loose items with QA/QC. When engineering changes arise, you dive into root cause, implement corrections, and update the team so work keeps moving—on time and to spec.

What you’ll do

  • Assemble mechanical components for power distribution switchgear and breaker units per drawings and customer requirements.
  • Use and maintain hand and power tools properly; keep work areas 5S-organized.
  • Perform in-process inspections following standard work; identify risks to product quality and resolve them.
  • Lead peers through ship preparation activities and support team training.
  • Investigate engineering changes with Root Cause Analysis and correct discrepancies.
  • Identify, track, and communicate part shortages; collaborate cross-functionally to clear constraints.
  • Process ship-loose items and coordinate with QA/QC for documentation and release.
  • Complete final in-process checks and perform precision mechanical adjustments on assemblies.
  • Champion safety culture and attend all safety meetings.

Minimum qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient with tape measure use and conversions (fraction decimal; metric imperial).
  • Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to look up parts and drawings using Oracle, MES, and True View.
  • Safe operation of a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs using proper technique.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experienced executing complex engineering changes.
  • Reads spec sheets and selects correct hardware to match specifications.
  • Advanced understanding of single-line and three-line diagrams, including symbols.
  • Detects part discrepancies and writes HFDs accurately.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawings and design principles.
  • Reliably meets commitments and stays focused on goals.
  • Self-starter who can juggle multiple priorities and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Adapts readily to new technologies, processes, and product updates.
  • Customer-first mindset, strong integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Detail-driven, accurate, and dependable; strong collaborator with other departments.
  • Learns and follows manufacturing policies and practices to maintain ISO compliance.

Working conditions

  • Safety-sensitive role in a temperature-controlled manufacturing/industrial environment with occasional outdoor work.
  • PPE required: safety shoes, hard hats or bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as needed, and respirators when required.
  • Work from various ladders (step, A-frame, etc.) and at heights up to ~20 feet using approved lift and fall protection equipment.

Physical demands

  • Maintain balance and agility while walking, standing, crouching, and climbing/descending stairs or step ladders.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and use of upper extremities, including work above shoulders and at full arm extension.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular use of hand and power tools.
