Lead Teacher

General Functions Under the direction of the ELC Childcare Director, the Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a quality program that is within the guidelines set forth by the center and all governing bodies.

Some Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

• Develop and implement a developmentally age-appropriate preschool program.
• Create a classroom environment in accordance to goals and philosophy.
• Builds children’s esteem and provides a secure, safe environment.
• Follow the given curriculum that promotes literacy and pre-kindergarten readiness skills
• Lead, manage, and delegate tasks in the classroom to classroom staff as appropriate.
• Communicates effectively with parents
• Ensures classrooms and equipment are well maintained, clean and safe.
• Provides Monthly newsletter detailing weekly activities and curriculum to parents.

Requirements Education and Experience

• Minimum of an associate's degree in early childhood development or related field.
• A minimum of 1 year experience working in a childcare setting
• Must have a satisfactory background check per NY Statewide Central Register Database and NYS Justice Center standards.
