Be the Teacher Every Classroom Can Count On

J-Bear Child Development Center is looking for an experienced, dependable, and flexible Floater Teacher to support classrooms throughout our school.

Our Floater Teacher plays an important role in keeping the school running smoothly. Rather than being assigned to only one classroom, you will work with multiple age groups, stepping in where support is needed throughout the day.

We are looking for someone who can walk into different classrooms, quickly learn the routine, connect with children, support fellow teachers, and provide consistent, high-quality care.

What You'll Do

As a Floater Teacher, you will:

Provide classroom support across multiple age groups
Step into classrooms as needed to maintain appropriate staffing and ratios
Maintain active supervision and prioritize children's safety
Support Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily classroom routines
Engage children in age-appropriate learning activities and play
Assist with meals, transitions, rest periods, diapering/toileting, and other care routines as appropriate
Use positive guidance and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies
Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming classrooms
Adapt quickly to different classroom schedules and expectations
Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
Communicate effectively with teachers and school leadership
Follow all health, safety, licensing, and school requirements
Provide additional school support as needed throughout the day
What We're Looking For

A successful Floater Teacher is someone who is flexible, dependable, confident, and comfortable working with children across different developmental stages.

Required Qualifications
Must meet applicable North Carolina childcare employment and credential requirements
ITS/SIDS training
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Required early childhood credentials
Ability to successfully complete required background screening
Ability to work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Ability and willingness to work with all classroom age groups

Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool is strongly preferred.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

You may be a great fit if you:

Enjoy variety rather than being in the same classroom every day
Can adjust quickly when school needs change
Are comfortable working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children
Understand classroom ratios and active supervision
Are confident stepping into an established classroom routine
Work well with different teaching styles and personalities
Are dependable and understand that other teachers rely on your support
Bring a positive attitude wherever you are assigned
Are willing to jump in and help without needing to be asked twice
Compensation and Schedule

Pay: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Schedule:
Monday through Friday
9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Employment Type: Full-Time
