Job Title: Technical Operations Lead

About the Role We are looking for highly skilled Technical Operations Lead to manage and scale our on-premise payments infrastructure. You will work in an environment spanning virtual machines and containerized workloads on bare metal, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for mission-critical systems.\

Key Responsibilities

Area

Responsibility

Uptime & Availability (Monitoring & Alerting)

Own end-to-end availability/SLA of the payment stack; proactively monitor services, infrastructure, database, network and dependencies. Ensure monitoring of TPS, latency, errors, transaction success rate.

Operational Governance (24*7 Operations)

Run the platform through defined shifts with clear shift ownership, handover escalation and on-call mechanism.

SOPs & Runbooks

Define, maintain and periodically test SOPs/runbooks for normal operations, failures, recovery, restart, failover and DR scenarios.

Incident management

Detect, triage, escalate and coordinate resolution of incidents, drive restoration of service.

Capacity Management

Track traffic growth, resource utilization and bottlenecks, proactively plan capacity to maintain performance and resilience.

Change & Release Management

Own operational readiness for releases, maintenance and infrastructure changes, ensure rollback plans and change windows are followed

Security Operations

Ensure operational compliance with security controls, privileged access, patching, certificates, secrets, audit requirements and security incident escalations.

DR & Resilience

Own operations readiness for HA/DR, conduct failover/fallback, drills and validate RTO/RPO periodically.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Infrastructure

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration
• Experience managing on-prem data centre environments
• Solid understanding of:
• Virtualization (VMware / KVM or similar)
• Bare metal provisioning

Containers & Middleware

• Experience running Docker in production (non-Kubernetes setups preferred)
• Strong operational knowledge of: Nginx, Redis, Kafka, RDBMS, Java

Observability, Alerting & Reliability

• Good understanding of observability platforms:
• Elastic Stack (ELK)
• Grafana / Prometheus stack

CI/CD & Version Control

• Hands-on experience with:

• Git (branching strategies, code reviews, infra-as-code workflows)

• Jenkins (pipeline creation, build automation, deployment orchestration)

Networking & Security

• Basic understanding of:

• Networking fundamentals (L3/L4 concepts)

• Firewalls and WAF (rule tuning, debugging)

• Experience handling secure production environments

Automation

• Hands-on experience with:

• Ansible

• Shell scripting (bash)

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

• Experience in UPI / Payments domain

• Understanding of:

• High TPS systems

• Low latency architecture

• Exposure to:

• Ceph / SAN / storage systems

• HA/DR design patterns

• Knowledge of observability stacks (Prometheus, ELK, etc.)

• Experience working in regulated environments (PCI-DSS, RBI guidelines)
