Lead Veterinary Receptionist

• Gustavus Veterinary Services is a privately owned, two doctor, mixed animal veterinary practice serving Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania.
• We provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for companion animals and livestock through both in-clinic and ambulatory services.

Position Summary

As the first point of contact, you will play a vital role in creating a positive experience for every client and patient. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary environment. As lead receptionist, you will also be working closely with the office manager and lead technicians to create and manage appropriate protocols and workflow of daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and schedule appointments, including small and large animal appointments.
• Welcome clients and patients with professionalism and kindness.
• Check patients in and out for appointments.
• Process payments and assist to balance daily transactions.
• Maintain accurate client and patient records and communications.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians and other support staff.
• Respond to client questions and relay messages appropriately.
• Assist with prescription refill requests and appointment reminders.
• Keep the reception area clean, organized, and inviting.
• Perform other administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Familiarity with small and large animal veterinary practices and terminology.
• Familiarity with veterinary practice management software. We use Daysmart/Vetter.

Required:

• Previous veterinary receptionist, veterinary assistant, or veterinary clinic experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong computer and typing skills.
• Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Schedule

• Full-time
• Anticipated Monday through Friday work week.
