Ryan Feister Films is looking for an experienced wedding videographer to join our team as a Lead Videographer.

We specialize in refined, documentary-style wedding films with an emphasis on authentic moments, beautiful imagery, great audio, and an unobtrusive presence throughout the wedding day.

We’re looking for someone who already has experience filming weddings and is comfortable working in a fast-paced wedding environment, but who is also eager to learn our specific approach.

The Role

The goal of this position is to train someone to mirror the way I personally film weddings as the lead videographer for Ryan Feister Films.

You’ll learn how we approach a wedding day, communicate with couples and planners, work alongside photographers, capture audio, compose shots, anticipate important moments, and document the day without unnecessarily staging or interrupting what is happening.

Initially, you may work alongside me or another experienced filmmaker to learn our workflow. As you become comfortable with our approach, the goal is for you to lead weddings independently while maintaining the same level of quality and experience our couples expect.

What We're Looking For

• Previous wedding videography experience
• Strong understanding of cameras, exposure, frame rates, lenses, and basic filmmaking techniques
• Comfortable shooting with mirrorless/cinema-style camera systems
• Experience capturing professional wedding audio
• Ability to anticipate moments rather than simply react to them
• Strong composition and attention to detail
• Calm and professional demeanor
• Comfortable communicating with couples, planners, photographers, and other wedding professionals
• Reliable, punctual, and organized
• Able to work long wedding days, typically 8–10+ hours
• Willing to travel to weddings throughout Virginia, Washington DC, and occasionally surrounding states
• Own reliable transportation
• Most importantly, teachable and willing to learn our approach rather than simply bringing your existing shooting style
• Willingness to obtain a Drone Part 107 license.

Our Approach

Our wedding films are documentary-driven and focused on capturing the wedding as it genuinely happens.

We want our filmmakers to be proactive without being intrusive. That means knowing where to be, anticipating what is about to happen, capturing clean audio and beautiful compositions, and working efficiently without making the wedding day feel like a production.

While previous experience is important, we're equally interested in finding someone who is dependable, easy to work with, and excited to grow into our style and workflow.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead videographer for assigned weddings
• Follow Ryan Feister Films' shooting style and wedding-day workflow
• Capture getting ready, first looks, ceremony, portraits, reception events, and candid moments
• Set up and monitor multiple cameras during ceremonies and key reception events
• Capture and monitor professional audio
• Coordinate with photographers and wedding planners throughout the day
• Manage camera cards, batteries, and equipment responsibly
• Represent Ryan Feister Films professionally with couples, families, venues, and vendors
• Follow established procedures for organizing and transferring footage after each wedding

Equipment

Having your own professional camera equipment is a plus, but we're primarily looking for the right filmmaker. Equipment requirements and availability can be discussed during the interview process.

Schedule

This is a part-time / contract wedding-day position, primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during wedding season. The number of weddings will vary throughout the year.

There is potential for the role to grow as we find the right person and provide additional training.

Pay: $50.00 - $250.00 per hour
