What they need
The Real Estate Council (TREC) is a leading commercial real estate trade association focused on strengthening the industry and the communities we serve. TREC creates connections that impact careers, companies, and communities through leadership development, education, advocacy, networking, and community investment.
Leadership development is a core part of TREC’s work. We are committed to helping develop talented professionals while cultivating the next generation of leaders across the commercial real estate industry and our broader community.
About the Role
TREC is seeking a Leadership Development Programs Manager to manage and advance the organization’s leadership development programs, committees, and member engagement initiatives.
This position serves as the primary staff liaison to volunteer leaders and plays a key role in developing programs that connect members, build leadership skills, and create meaningful pathways for engagement throughout their careers. The Manager will work closely with senior leadership, volunteers, members, sponsors, and community partners to plan and deliver high-quality programs while ensuring strong participation, financial performance, and measurable outcomes.
The ideal candidate is an organized, relationship-oriented professional who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, leading volunteers, and turning ideas into well-executed programs. Creativity, initiative, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead TREC’s leadership development programs from planning through execution, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Strengthen TREC’s leadership continuum by identifying opportunities to engage members at different career stages and creating meaningful pathways for leadership growth.
Serve as the primary staff liaison for the Associate Leadership Council (ALC), Young Guns Core Committee, Leadership Alumni, Mentorship Program, DEI Leadership Committee, and other leadership initiatives.
Partner with volunteer leaders to establish goals, develop work plans, recruit participants, and successfully execute programs and initiatives.
Manage participant and volunteer recruitment, selection, onboarding, and engagement, creating an experience in which members feel valued, connected, and supported.
Oversee key programs, including ALC, Mentorship, Leadership Alumni, Young Guns leadership initiatives, The Deal, and other programs as assigned.
Manage the ALC experience, including recruitment, application and selection processes, orientation, retreats, educational programming, alumni engagement, and class projects.
Build relationships with members, executive-level professionals, sponsors, volunteers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to strengthen participation and advance TREC’s leadership goals.
Develop and manage program budgets and financial performance, including monitoring revenue, expenses, sponsorship commitments, and participant dues.
Establish and monitor program goals, metrics, and outcomes and use feedback and performance data to recommend improvements and growth opportunities.
Collaborate across departments, particularly Communications, to promote programs, support member engagement, and align leadership initiatives with broader organizational priorities.
Provide direction to staff supporting leadership programs and delegate operational responsibilities while maintaining strong execution and member service.
Represent TREC at meetings, events, and industry functions and support organization-wide initiatives and special projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree required.
2-5 years of experience in program management, leadership development, volunteer management, membership organizations, nonprofit associations, corporate training, talent development, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience working with committees, volunteer leaders, boards, or advisory groups.
Experience planning and executing educational, leadership development, or professional development programs and events.
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with executives, volunteers, sponsors, and community leaders.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
Experience managing budgets, tracking program performance, and evaluating outcomes.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Salesforce/Nimble or other CRM and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Knowledge of commercial real estate, workforce development, leadership development, or association management is preferred.
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel locally as needed.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a connector, program builder, and relationship manager who enjoys helping people grow. You are equally comfortable developing a strategic programming plan, facilitating a committee meeting, recruiting a volunteer, managing a budget, or stepping in to solve a problem.
You bring energy and creativity to leadership development and are motivated by creating opportunities that help professionals expand their networks, strengthen their leadership skills, and become more engaged in their companies, industry, and community.
