Lead integrated, high-quality community health services and turn strategy into measurable improvements for frontline services.

About cohealth

cohealth is a not-for-profit community health organisation providing health and support services across Melbourne’s CBD, northern and western suburbs, and the East Coast of Tasmania. We work to improve health and wellbeing, address health and social inequality, and support people experiencing barriers to being healthy and well.

About the role

As Executive – Operations you will be accountable for the performance, quality and sustainability of the Services Network. The portfolio includes primary and community care, alcohol and other drug responses, community mental health, homelessness responses, health promotion, and quality and risk.

You deliver integrated, evidence-informed and client-centred services. Leading a team of Directors and senior managers, you will set the operating rhythm for the network, strengthen performance and financial sustainability, and ensure clinical governance, safety, quality, risk and accreditation obligations are met across all programs.

What you will lead

  • Translate strategy into a clear operating model, priorities, performance measures and milestones for the Services Network.
  • Drive integrated, joined-up care across diverse service directorates, with a strong focus on health equity and the social determinants of health.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing senior leadership team and build leadership capability across the network.
  • Hold accountability for operational and financial performance, including quality, access, throughput, client experience, workforce and budget delivery.
  • Provide executive sponsorship for clinical governance and ensure services meet relevant safety, quality, accreditation, contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, communities, funders, governments, sector partners and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
  • Provide expert advice to the CEO, Executive Hub and Board, and represent cohealth in external forums and partnerships.

What you will bring

You are an accomplished executive leader with experience in a complex, multi-site and multidisciplinary health, community or human services environment. You combine strategic and systems thinking to deliver measurable frontline improvements.

  • Substantial executive leadership experience overseeing large clinical and community-based service portfolios, with accountability for operational, financial, quality and workforce outcomes.
  • A record of building capable, accountable senior leadership teams through reform and change.
  • Deep knowledge of clinical governance, quality, safety, risk and accreditation across primary, community, mental health and alcohol and other drug services.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, together with highly developed influencing, negotiation and partnership skills.
  • Experience working with Boards, executive teams, governments and funders in regulated and politically dynamic environments.
  • Authentic alignment with cohealth’s mission, values and commitment to health equity, social justice and human rights.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification; postgraduate qualifications in health management, public health, business administration or leadership are highly desirable.
