Leaf Blend Formulation Engineer

About the role

This role involves the design and development of new product leaf blend formulations, as well as systematic improvement and optimization of existing product flavor profiles. You will conduct applied research on novel tobacco raw materials and specialty processing technologies, and continuously optimize blend structures to enhance core product technology advantages.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new product leaf blend formulations and systematically improve and optimize existing product flavor profiles
• Conduct applied research on novel tobacco raw materials and specialty processing technologies
• Continuously optimize blend structures to enhance core product technology advantages
• Establish and maintain formulation standards to ensure precise and consistent scale-up of R&D blends into mass production
• Resolve quality fluctuation issues during manufacturing
• Perform formulation cost accounting, analysis, and control to achieve cost optimization while maintaining product sensory and physical quality

About you

• Bachelor's degree or above in Tobacco Engineering, Food Science, Applied Chemistry, Flavor and Fragrance Technology, or related fields
• Possess acute and professional sensory evaluation skills to accurately identify and describe smoke aroma characteristics, harmony, off-notes, irritation, and aftertaste
• Familiar with routine chemical components (e.g., total sugars, nicotine) and flavor-relevant constituents in tobacco and smoke, as well as associated analytical methods and instrumentation
• Deep understanding of subsequent processing steps—including primary processing (cut rag), flavoring/casing, and wrapping/packaging—and their impact on formulation design objectives
• Relevant formulation R&D experience preferred
• Proficient in operating laboratory analytical instruments and data analysis software
• Meticulous, rigorous, and highly responsible
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Strong awareness of technical confidentiality
