Leak Detection Technician and Waterproofing Operative

About the Role

A specialist leak detection and waterproofing company operating in Dubai is hiring a technically capable field operative to carry out leak investigations, apply waterproofing and sealing treatments, and produce clear written reports documenting findings and recommended remedies.

We work across residential towers, villas, commercial buildings, and hospitality properties, using thermal imaging, acoustic detection, pressure testing, and a range of other diagnostic tools to locate the source of leaks accurately and remediate them properly.

We are open to two types of candidates:

If you are an experienced leak detection technician with hands-on field experience, we want to hear from you and can offer immediate deployment on live projects.

If you are technically minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with diagnostic equipment and technology but do not yet have specific leak detection experience, we also want to hear from you. We offer a structured on-the-job training programme that will develop your skills across thermal imaging, acoustic listening devices, pressure testing equipment, borescope cameras, moisture mapping, and waterproofing application techniques. Candidates from MEP, building maintenance, civil, or general contracting backgrounds who are hungry to specialise are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Leak Detection and Investigation

• Carry out structured on-site leak detection investigations across roofs, wet areas, facades, basements, plumbing systems, and structural elements
• Operate thermal imaging cameras to identify moisture pathways, temperature anomalies, and hidden sources of water ingress
• Use acoustic listening devices to detect pipe leaks and water movement within concealed systems
• Conduct pressure testing on plumbing and drainage systems to isolate leaks under controlled conditions
• Use borescope cameras, moisture meters, and tracer tools to confirm leak origins in difficult-to-access areas
• Carry out systematic visual inspections and document all observations accurately with supporting photographs
• Produce a structured floor plan or area diagram marking affected zones and suspected water pathways

Waterproofing and Sealing Works

• Apply waterproofing membranes, liquid coatings, and sealants in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project scope
• Prepare surfaces correctly prior to all waterproofing and sealing applications including cleaning, grinding, and priming where required
• Carry out crack injection, joint sealing, and grouting works as directed
• Apply cementitious, polyurethane, crystalline, and torch applied waterproofing systems depending on the project requirement
• Ensure all completed works are clean, fully sealed, and meet the required standard before leaving site

Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare a detailed written investigation report for every completed site visit
• Reports must clearly describe the findings, identify the source of leakage, include photographic evidence, mark affected areas, and recommend remediation works
• Submit completed reports on the day of or the day after the investigation
• Maintain accurate records of materials used, works completed, and site conditions throughout each job

Who We Are Looking For

Experienced candidates:

• Minimum 2 years UAE experience in leak detection, waterproofing, or building envelope works
• Hands-on experience with thermal imaging cameras, acoustic devices, pressure testing equipment, or moisture meters
• Proven ability to write clear investigation reports in English
• Knowledge of waterproofing system types and their correct application

Candidates suitable for our training programme:

• Background in MEP, building maintenance, civil contracting, or general technical works
• Comfortable operating technical equipment and learning new tools quickly
• Detail-oriented and methodical in approach to tasks
• Strong interest in building diagnostics and specialist technical work
• Able to read and produce basic written reports in English
• Willing to commit to a structured learning programme of 3 to 6 months before operating independently on site

All candidates must:

• Be physically capable of working in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors in Dubai conditions year-round
• Be able to work independently on site with minimal supervision once trained or experienced
• Be currently based in the UAE

Preferred

• UAE driving license
• Formal training in thermography or building diagnostics
• Experience working across residential towers, villas, hotels, or commercial properties

For candidates joining through the training track, you will receive:

• Hands-on training in thermal imaging camera operation and interpretation of results
• Practical training in acoustic leak detection and pressure testing methodology
• Supervised site work alongside experienced technicians before progressing to independent deployment
• Training in waterproofing product application across multiple system types
• Coaching on professional report writing and client site conduct
• A clear progression path to senior technician level based on performance
