Lean Engineer (5S / Lean)

We are looking for a 5S & Lean Engineer to join our team in Ipoh. You will champion, implement and sustain our 5S and workplace organisation programme across our semiconductor assembly lines, driving waste elimination, cleanroom workflow optimisation and a disciplined culture of operational excellence. You will work closely with manufacturing modules, equipment engineering and quality teams to ensure our assembly environment meets world-class standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience facilitating 5S and Lean methodologies, specifically within a semiconductor assembly, test or high-tech cleanroom environment (ISO Class 4/5 preferred).
• Strong understanding of semiconductor material handling (FOUPs, magazines, leadframes) and a proven track record of changing shop-floor culture.
• Empathetic and approachable, able to build trust with operators and technicians and listen to frontline challenges.
• Persuasive and persistent, able to drive behavioural change and overcome resistance without relying on formal authority.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the end-to-end execution of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) across wafer sawing, die attach, wire bonding, moulding and packaging areas.
2. Design and deploy visual factory controls, floor markings and custom shadowing for semiconductor tools and changeover carts to minimise setup times.
3. Establish a 5S audit matrix, conduct weekly/monthly line assessments and track sustainability metrics via digital dashboards.
4. Lead targeted Kaizen events focused on cycle time reduction, ergonomic improvements and cleanroom material flow optimisation.
5. Conduct hands-on 5S and Lean training for operators, technicians and shift supervisors to build a culture of continuous ownership.

Added advantage: Lean Green Belt or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
