Overview

Our client is a multidisciplinary architecture and design organization committed to professional growth, technical excellence, and a people-centered culture. We are seeking a Learning & Development Manager to strengthen employee development and performance across the organization. This is a hybrid position based in Long Beach, California, with occasional travel as needed.

Position Description

The Learning & Development Manager will lead organization-wide learning, performance, and career-development initiatives in partnership with senior leaders and the People, Finance, and Talent teams. This role will design scalable programs for multiple disciplines and locations, translate business needs into measurable development strategies, and help employees build the skills required for long-term success. Experience within an architecture, engineering, or professional-services firm is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve learning, development, and performance programs aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Partner with leaders to assess capability needs and create tailored learning solutions for teams and individuals.
  • Manage the annual performance-management and employee check-in process through the organization’s HRIS.
  • Develop and administer the learning and talent-development budget in collaboration with internal partners.
  • Establish metrics and analytics that measure participation, effectiveness, skill growth, and business impact.
  • Create career paths, skills maps, credential frameworks, and leadership-development pathways across disciplines.
  • Facilitate leadership programs, coaching, and group learning while determining when external expertise is appropriate.
  • Coordinate leadership retreats, program nominations, promotion criteria, and related development experiences.
  • Support university partnerships, career fairs, internships, recruiting initiatives, onboarding, and role-based learning maps.
  • Coordinate technical education, including BIM, materials, tools, and other discipline-specific training.
  • Manage applicable employer-training and workforce-development funding or credit programs.
  • Evaluate learning technologies, including responsible applications of artificial intelligence, to improve access and effectiveness.
  • Produce clear learning communications and maintain a regular development newsletter or program update.
  • Capture lessons from project kickoffs and closeouts and translate them into useful learning content.
  • Track professional licensure, certifications, continuing education, and related development milestones.

Skills & Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, organizational development, training, talent management, or a related HR discipline.
  • Learning and development experience within an architecture, engineering, or professional-services firm is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and evaluating scalable learning programs.
  • Experience with performance management, career pathing, leadership development, facilitation, and coaching.
  • Proficiency with ADP or a comparable HRIS, learning technologies, reporting, and people analytics.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, written communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Analytical approach to budgeting, metrics, program evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and audiences across locations.
  • Collaborative, organized, and able to work independently with sound judgment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as business needs require.

Bring your learning strategy, program leadership, and people-development expertise to an organization where your work will help employees grow, strengthen leadership, and support lasting business success. Apply today—we look forward to receiving your application.
