Learning and Development Officer

About the role
The Learning and Development Officer is responsible for driving employee learning initiatives and capability-building programs that support workforce growth and organizational performance. The role oversees training needs analysis, learning program design and delivery, performance development, talent development initiatives, and onboarding, while collaborating with other Human Capital functions to enhance employee engagement and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct training needs assessments across departments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities for employees at all levels
• Design, develop and deliver engaging training programs, including both in-person and virtual learning solutions
• Create and curate training materials, instructional content and resources that align with organizational objectives and industry best practices
• Manage the training calendar, coordinate scheduling and ensure smooth delivery of all learning and development initiatives
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback mechanisms and performance metrics
• Maintain accurate training records and documentation, including attendance, completion rates and learner progress
• Support the onboarding and introduction of new employees to ensure they are equipped with necessary knowledge and skills
• Collaborate with line managers and senior leadership to align training initiatives with business strategy and succession planning
• Stay current with industry trends, training methodologies and best practices in learning and development
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to employee training and professional development

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration or a related field
• With 5 years of experience in learning and development, training delivery or a related human resources function
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies
• Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs across diverse employee populations
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence audiences
• Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously
• Analytical skills with the ability to assess training effectiveness and recommend improvements
• A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders at all organizational levels
• Knowledge of insurance industry practices and employee development trends is advantageous
• Certification in training and development, instructional design or related disciplines is preferred
