What they need

Champlain Cable is seeking a Learning & Development / Safety Coordinator to lead and strengthen employee training programs at our Vermont manufacturing facility while also serving as the on-site resource for day-to-day safety needs.

This is a hands-on, highly visible role that will work closely with production employees, supervisors, managers, and department leaders. The position will be responsible for developing and coordinating training for new hires, production employees, ERP systems, and other organizational needs. You will also help other managers and subject matter experts develop effective training materials for their teams.

On the safety side, this position will partner closely with our EHS Manager, who has overall responsibility for company safety and environmental programs. Locally, you will help address day-to-day safety matters, coordinate safety activities and events, support training and inspections, and make sure safety-related follow-up happens.

If you enjoy being out on the production floor, working directly with employees, building training programs, and making sure things get done, this could be a great opportunity.

What You'll Do

Training & Employee Development

· Develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for new and existing employees.

· Lead and continuously improve new hire training and onboarding, particularly for production employees.

· Ensure all required new hire training is completed and properly documented.

· Conduct periodic follow-ups with new employees to evaluate how training is going, identify gaps, and provide additional support when needed.

· Develop and coordinate ERP system training.

· Partner with managers and subject matter experts to identify training needs across the organization.

· Create training materials, presentations, job aids, work instructions, and other learning resources.

· Assist managers and department heads in developing effective materials for training they deliver within their departments.

· Track training completion and maintain accurate training records and matrices.

· Evaluate the effectiveness of training and recommend improvements.

· Support cross-training, refresher training, and other employee development initiatives.

On-Site Safety Coordination

· Serve as a local resource for day-to-day safety matters at the Vermont facility.

· Partner with the EHS Manager to support company safety programs, policies, and initiatives.

· Respond to routine safety concerns and help coordinate appropriate follow-up.

· Help identify workplace hazards and ensure concerns are communicated and addressed.

· Coordinate required safety training, meetings, inspections, drills, and other on-site safety activities.

· Assist with incident investigations and corrective-action follow-up.

· Help maintain appropriate safety documentation and records.

· Be a visible presence on the production floor and reinforce safe work practices.

· Help promote employee participation and engagement in the company's safety culture.

· Escalate safety or environmental matters to the EHS Manager when additional expertise or support is needed.

What We're Looking For

· Experience in training, learning and development, manufacturing, operations, safety, HR, or a related field.

· Experience developing and delivering employee training programs.

· Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.

· Ability to relate effectively to production employees, supervisors, managers, and senior leadership.

· Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

· Comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor.

· Ability to recognize issues, take initiative, and determine when escalation is appropriate.

· Experience with ERP systems and ERP training is a plus.

· Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

· Knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA requirements is preferred.

· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training & Development, Education, Safety, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

The Person Who Will Be Successful in This Role

We're looking for someone who is:

· Approachable and comfortable working directly with employees on the production floor.

· Organized and able to keep training requirements, schedules, records, and follow-up activities on track.

· A strong communicator who can make complex information easy to understand.

· Accountable and follows issues through to completion.

· Proactive and willing to identify needs rather than wait for someone else to raise them.

· Collaborative and able to work effectively across departments.

· Adaptable and comfortable responding to changing priorities in a manufacturing environment.

· Safety-minded with the judgment to address routine concerns and recognize when additional EHS expertise is needed.

Why Join Champlain Cable?

This position provides an opportunity to have a direct impact on two important areas of our organization: developing our employees and maintaining a strong safety culture. You will have the opportunity to build and improve training programs, support employees from their first days with the company, and work closely with operations and leadership to make a meaningful difference on the manufacturing floor.
