Learning and Development Supervisor

The Role

This is DMA's first dedicated learning and development role, created to lead that system day to day. Our ambition is simple and big: to add more value to our people's development than any other business in our industry, and to build an award-winning learning system.

DMA Maintenance keeps customers' buildings running across the UK, powered by BiO®, the platform we built ourselves. Most companies buy learning off the shelf. We own ours. Every process is written in our Training Guides, and every person knows the Tasks they're responsible for, learns them, proves them and is recognised for it. AI in BiO® and Claude does the admin, so our people get clear expectations, fast feedback and fair recognition.

Responsibilities

In your first year you'll launch the system with our engineers and leaders, take every office team through it and see the first people earn Certified status. Then you'll help move learning into the BiO® AI Tutor, which is central to DMA's future. As the system grows, so can your role, with real scope to shape how DMA, and others in our industry, learn.

What you'll do

Welcome every new starter. Own onboarding from accepted offer to the end of probation, so every start is organised, compliant and welcoming.
Set everyone up to succeed. Create each person's Job Profile and training plan and keep them on track with their line manager.
Make learning and assessment work. Use AI to turn our Training Guides into learning, practice and assessments, and be the human check on every result.
Bring learning to life beyond the screen. Design workshops, coaching and training sessions with Team Heads and subject matter experts.
Keep everyone qualified. Manage external training, qualifications, police vetting and our apprenticeship scheme.
Coach our managers. Help managers use their team data, one-to-ones and appraisals to grow their people, and coordinate the annual appraisal cycle.
Recognise proven competence. Run Certified status and BRAVO eligibility. The SLT sets BRAVO reward and recognition pay-outs, and the role doesn't handle salary data or HR casework.
Turn data into insight. Produce monthly report cards and team briefs for managers, and the Control Report for the Board.
Keep records right and keep people's trust. Keep training records and document control accurate and handle personal data and legal compliance carefully and in line with UK GDPR.
Make it better every month. Identify gaps at source through Process Improvement reports, deputise for the Quality & Performance Manager, and help bring in the BiO® AI Tutor.
The role will grow as the system matures and may include other reasonable duties in line with it.

Key Competencies

Running training, onboarding or competence processes for a team or organisation.
Writing or reviewing assessment questions, quizzes or competence checks.
Coordinating onboarding or induction for new starters.
Designing or delivering face to face learning.
Producing regular reports for managers.
Presenting confidently to groups.
Booking and managing external training and qualifications.

Schedule

The L&D Supervisor will work Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

We operate a hybrid work model, whereby the L&D Supervisor will work from home Monday and Friday, and in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Remuneration and Benefits

We are happy to offer an attractive base salary plus overtime pay. We would also provide a mobile phone, laptop and any necessary uniform.
As a DMA employee, the L&D Supervisor will also benefit from 25 days annual leave (plus 8 public holidays), company pension, death in service benefit and 'Smart Health' service.
