LEARNING LEADER / INSTRUCTOR - REGISTERED NURSE

You have been training new aides for years. On your unit, in the hallway, during a shift when someone needed to be shown the right way to do a transfer. This is that work — with a classroom, a curriculum, and a paycheck.

WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO
Teach the Board-approved curriculum across the classroom, the skills laboratory and the clinical setting. Plan each learning experience. Watch a student perform a skill and decide whether they are ready. Mentor adult learners who are often doing this around another job. Lead the LPN who assists in clinical. Send every student into the state competency examination prepared.

WHAT YOU NEED — set by the Virginia Board of Nursing, 18VAC90-26-30,

• Current unrestricted Virginia RN license, or multistate licensure privilege
• Two years of experience as a registered nurse
• At least one of those years in long-term care — a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics, chronic care, home care, or a nurse aide education program. Supervising nursing students in one of those settings counts too.
• Competence to teach adults: either 12 hours of coursework in adult learning principles, teaching methods, evaluation and measurement, nurse aide regulations and the certification exam skills — or you have taught this curriculum before

WHAT IT IS
hybrid programs — asynchronous theory in Canvas with scheduled in-person laboratory and clinical sessions. Contracted per cohorts, Board approved progams

More teaching if you want it — Medication Aide, Personal Care Aide and AHA CPR/BLS, with further programs in development,we will share the full fee schedule . Clinical work is also available with our partnering home health agency, Mother’s Helper Home Health Agency.
