Where to find us

Job Description

Inspire. Educate. Empower. ✨

We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious and reflective practitioner who strives for excellence and is passionate about making a difference to children’s lives. We are seeking someone who is committed to high standards of learning, is prepared to go the extra mile and continually looks for ways to improve provision and experiences for our children.

At Rectory, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Our relational approach is rooted in knowing our children well, understanding their individual needs and creating environments where every child feels safe, valued and supported to learn.

This is an exciting and varied role working across both our mainstream and specialist SEND provision, providing high-quality support, intervention and cover where needed. The successful candidate will be confident adapting their approach to meet the needs of different children and contexts and will ideally have experience across the primary age range and of working with children with SEND.

This role will support the delivery of Breakfast club from 7:45am

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about children and committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
  • Builds positive, trusting and respectful relationships.
  • Has high expectations of learning, behaviour and personal development.
  • Has a strong understanding of inclusion and SEND.
  • Can adapt support and teaching to remove barriers to learning.
  • Is creative, positive, enthusiastic and brings joy to children’s learning.
  • Works collaboratively whilst also showing initiative and independence.
  • Is committed to reflection and professional development.

Working at Rectory Primary School

Rectory is a small mainstream primary school in Downall Green, South Wigan, with an on-site 24-place specialist provision for children with an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism.

Our specialist provision sits alongside our mainstream offer, creating a unique school community where inclusive practice, strong relationships and a deep understanding of individual needs are central to everyday life. We are committed to ensuring that every child is known well, feels a strong sense of belonging and is supported to achieve their potential.

This permanent vacancy offers a fantastic opportunity for a creative, positive, inspiring and enthusiastic practitioner to join our team.

At Rectory Primary School, we believe that happy, motivated staff create the best learning experience. That’s why we prioritize wellbeing, celebrate achievements, and foster a strong sense of belonging.

Come join us and help shape something exceptional — where your passion for education meets a community that truly cares, and where every child is understood, celebrated and supported to thrive.

Rectory Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Visits to school and / or informal conversation with the Headteacher or a member of the Senior leadership team are warmly welcomed. Visits can be arranged in the afternoons up to the application deadline. Please contact Mrs Proudfoot, School Business Manager to arrange an appoitment .
