Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Griffin House Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant with experience working with individuals with additional needs. As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), your primary responsibility will be to provide personalised support to a student with additional needs within an educational setting, to start 4.01.2027

Your role will be pivotal in providing essential support to a child with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP), helping them achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. You will be required to collaborate with teachers in delivering programmes of teaching and learning activities and wellbeing support for a child identified as needing 1:1 support. The primary focus is to undertake educational activities, within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and confident and will be able to support and inspire children to foster their enthusiasm for learning. They will also have the skills and maturity required to take on the teaching assistant’s duties and responsibilities.

English and maths GCSEs are essential. You'll also need to show that you can work well with children, teachers, and parents. A qualification in nursery work, childcare, play work or youth work would be desirable.

Teaching Assistant experience is desirable as is an up-to-date knowledge and experience of the National Curriculum. What is also important is your ability to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning and to have the skills and maturity required to take on the teaching duties and responsibilities in school.
