Leather Sewer

Primary Duties of the Job:

·The Leather Footwear Sewer is responsible for operating industrial sewing machines to assemble leather footwear components, ensuring all stitching meets company quality standards, production requirements, and established specifications. This position requires attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, knowledge of sewing techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Recommended Skills for the position:

Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble and sew leather, lining, and other footwear materials according to production specifications.

Read and follow production instructions, patterns, work orders, and sample specifications to ensure accurate assembly.

Select appropriate thread, needles, machine settings, and stitching techniques based on material type and product requirements.

Inspect materials and sewn components for defects, alignment, stitch consistency, seam strength, and overall workmanship.

Identify and report material defects, sewing inconsistencies, or equipment issues to the production supervisor.

Maintain consistent production rates while meeting established quality standards and daily production goals.

Make routine sewing machine adjustments, including thread tension, needle replacement, and minor troubleshooting.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety and housekeeping standards.

Properly handle leather and other footwear materials to minimize waste, prevent damage, and maintain material quality.

Follow established manufacturing procedures, and quality control environments.

Coordinate with other production team members to maintain workflow and meet production schedules.

Communicate production concerns, quality issues, and opportunities for improvement to the appropriate supervisor.

Perform other production-related duties as assigned.

· Handle work area, tools, and machines appropriately. Maintain clean and hazard free workplace, maintain correct usage of workplace tools and equipment.

· Complies with company Safety and Quality policies.

· Complies with company Drug and Alcohol Policy.
