Lecturer in Physiotherapy

About the role

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Neurology and/or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, supporting student learning, engaging in research and scholarly activities, and contributing to curriculum development to produce competent and ethical physiotherapy professionals.

Key responsibilities

Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and laboratory sessions in physiotherapy across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

• Develop, review, and update teaching materials, lesson plans, learning resources, and assessment methods to ensure alignment with current professional standards and industry practices.
• Assess student performance through examinations, assignments, practical assessments, and continuous evaluation while maintaining academic integrity and quality standards.
• Provide academic advising, mentoring, and constructive feedback to support students' academic and clinical development.
• Supervise students during laboratory practicals, simulation sessions, research projects, and clinical placements, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Participate in curriculum planning, programme review, accreditation exercises, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Conduct research, publish scholarly work, and contribute to knowledge advancement in physiotherapy or related disciplines.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and clinical partners to facilitate student clinical placements.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, committees, university activities, community engagement, and outreach programmes.
• Maintain professional competency through continuous professional development, conferences, workshops, and professional networking.
• Contribute to enhancing MAHSA University's academic reputation through teaching excellence, research, and professional engagement.

What we're looking for

• PhD in Physiotherapy is strongly preferred. Candidates pursuing a PhD or holding a Master's degree with significant academic and clinical experience may also be considered.
• Specialisation or clinical expertise in Neurological Physiotherapy and/or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is highly preferred.
• Registered Physiotherapist with the relevant professional regulatory body (Malaysia or equivalent recognised authority).
• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical practice experience, preferably in neurology or musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
• Previous teaching, clinical education, or supervision experience in a higher education institution is an advantage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, outcome-based education (OBE), and student assessment practices.
• Active involvement in research, publications, or scholarly activities is preferred.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in digital teaching platforms and educational technologies.
• Strong organisational, leadership, and teamwork skills.
