Lecturer Remote Sensing and GIS

Vacancy Announcement The University is looking for qualified and experienced individuals for the below-stated positions;

The position is based at BIUST Campus, Palapye. The successful candidate will be appointed on a pensionable or contract basis. Main Purpose Of The Job To deliver teaching in Geographical Information Sciences and Remote Sensing. To participate in curriculum development and the advancement of Geographical Information Sciences and Remote Sensing. To conduct individual research or work on collaborative projects. To supervise the efforts and performance of Teaching Instructors, Teaching Assistants and Technicians. To supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ projects. To source external and internal research funding from national and international donors.

Qualifications

• A PhD in Remote Sensing and GIS from a recognized Institution
• Familiarity with the core curriculum in Remote Sensing and GIS.
• A higher education teaching qualification or professional recognition (e.g. PG Certificate in teaching or equivalent) an added advantage.

Experience

• At least 2 years’ experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry experience in the relevant field or discipline is an added advantage.
• Good research record of at least 3 publications in Scopus indexed journals or equivalent industry experience
• Experience of teaching at the Undergraduate/Postgraduate levels is an added advantage.
• Evidence of verification of qualifications by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA).
