What they need

Legal Counsel

Brisbane | Full time - Permanent

  • Global role supporting diverse supply chain operations
  • Broad exposure: contracts, governance & M&A
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders internationally

About the Role

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Brisbane-based team, supporting Hewitt’s global operations across the full spectrum of the supply chain – agribusiness operations, processing, sales and our corporate offices.

Reporting to the General Counsel & Head of Risk, you will provide commercially focused legal advice across a diverse and evolving business. This is a dynamic, hands-on role partnering closely with stakeholders across multiple geographies to mitigate risk, support decision-making and enable business growth.

You will be a true business partner, working across the full spectrum of legal areas in our business. You will genuinely contribute to strategic initiatives and business growth while ensuring strong governance in a fast-paced, complex and global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, practical legal advice across business operations
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks through policies, procedures and training
  • Manage disputes balancing legal risk, cost and business outcomes
  • Support governance, compliance and strategic M&A initiatives

About You

You are a commercially astute legal professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. With strong technical expertise and sound judgement, you can confidently partner with stakeholders across the business to deliver practical legal solutions.

You enjoy working both autonomously and as part of a broader team and bring a proactive approach to managing risk and supporting organisational success.

You Will Bring

  • Demonstrated 2-4 years' experience in legal practice within a reputable law firm and/or in-house environment
  • Proven capability in delivering practical legal solutions and advice
  • Strong negotiation, critical thinking and sound decision-making skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and an ability to think outside of the box
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with global stakeholders
  • Current Australian practising certificate (or eligibility)
