Job Summary:

Lesson Specialists are the product experts and guest connection point for Snow School, helping guests navigate the many options available to create the right mountain experience for themselves and their families.

Working between the REC Call Centre and the in-person sales areas on the Rentals and Snow School floors, Lesson Specialists support guests from their initial inquiry through to the day of their lesson. They provide knowledgeable, personalized recommendations, create and manage bookings, answer questions, and help ensure guests arrive prepared and confident for their time on the mountain.

This role is about more than simply taking a reservation. Lesson Specialists ask the right questions, understand what each guest is looking for, and recommend the right combination of lessons, rentals, tickets, and other products to meet their needs.

Lesson Specialists are enthusiastic ambassadors for snow sports and Mount Washington Alpine Resort. They are approachable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and every guest interaction is an opportunity to help create a great mountain experience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and personalized service to guests by phone, email, and in person, helping them feel confident about their lesson experience.
  • Understand each guest’s needs by asking questions about their experience level, goals, group composition, ages, and abilities.
  • Recommend the most appropriate Snow School programs and supporting products, including tickets, rentals, and other services that enhance the guest’s experience.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge of Snow School programs, lesson requirements, schedules, meeting locations, pricing, policies, and general resort operations.
  • Create and manage lesson, rental, ticket, and related bookings accurately using the resort’s registration, POS, and payment systems.
  • Build complete and appropriate bookings by ensuring guest information, program requirements, waivers, payments, and other necessary details are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist guests with booking changes, questions, and reservation needs, proactively identifying and resolving issues whenever possible.
  • Coordinate with Snow School Dispatch and other departments to ensure guests are matched with the appropriate lesson and relevant guest information is communicated effectively.
  • Prepare guests for their lesson experience by providing clear information about meeting locations, rentals, tickets, lifts, required equipment, and what to expect.
  • Check guests in for their lessons and ensure they have the required paperwork, waivers, tickets, and information before heading to the mountain.
  • Work effectively across the REC Call Centre and in-person sales areas, adapting to changing guest volumes and supporting other Sales team members with lesson-related questions and bookings.
  • Operate sales systems and handle payments accurately and securely, while maintaining organized work areas and following all resort policies, procedures, safety standards, and security requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and friendly service in person, over the phone, and by email.
  • Ability to learn quickly, retain detailed product information, and apply that knowledge when assisting guests.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when creating bookings and processing transactions.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, approachable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm for skiing or snowboarding, with a willingness to develop product knowledge.
  • Scheduling flexibility, including availability for weekends, holidays, and changing operational needs.
  • Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn booking, POS, and resort systems.
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including grasping, typing, writing, repetitive motions, lifting, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.

Assets:

  • Previous guest service or customer-facing experience.
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, reservations, retail, or sales.
  • Previous ski industry or Snow School experience.
  • Knowledge of skiing, snowboarding, or other winter recreation.
  • Experience with POS, reservation, or booking systems.

Resort Conditions:

Working at a Winter Resort means no two days are the same—and that's part of the adventure! You’ll get to experience a variety of unique locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountain-top venues only accessible by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements; whether it's bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or the infamous coastal rain. Expect to navigate multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where the terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so good footwear is essential, indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey. If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you!
