Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced level 2 IT Technician to join our team in Dartford, Kent. This is a hands-on role for someone confident working independently, will hit the ground running, and is ready to take on a small amount of line management responsibility — you will oversee one direct report.
A key part of this role involves managing printer and scanning hardware — from installation and configuration through to ongoing maintenance — so solid experience in this area is essential. Familiarity with PaperCut print management software is a real advantage.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair 365 and network issues, including desktops, laptops, servers, and printers.
- Perform routine maintenance on IT equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Install, configure, and upgrade computer systems and network devices in accordance with organisational standards.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity problems and resolve issues related to routers, switches, and other networking hardware.
- Conduct equipment repairs and printer builds, both on-site and in the workshop as required.
- Assist with system upgrades, data migrations, and hardware replacements to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with other technical staff to develop preventative maintenance schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide experienced-level technical support, resolving escalated helpdesk issues efficiently and with minimal supervision.
- Line manage one IT team member — supporting their development and day-to-day work.
- Install, configure, and maintain printers, scanners, and multi-function devices (MFDs).
- Manage and support PaperCut print management software.
- Support Windows and Apple desktops and laptops, including imaging, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with network connectivity issues (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN).
- Maintain accurate asset records and IT documentation.
- Liaise with third-party vendors and escalate to senior IT where required.
- Support user on-boarding and off-boarding, including account and device setup.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a mid-to-senior IT support role, comfortable working independently.
- Some experience of supervising or mentoring junior colleagues — formal line management experience is a bonus, but not essential.
- Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting printers and scanners across a range of manufacturers (Predominantly Sharp).
- PaperCut experience highly desirable — configuration, policies, and administration.
- Solid knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365.
- Comfortable working with Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
- Strong communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
Pay: £28,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Free parking
- On-site parking
