This is a full-time position paying £13.21 per hour, working with children aged 2–4. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and is committed to creating a happy, safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive.

The Role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide warm, responsive and high-quality care for children aged 2–4.
  • Support children’s learning and development through play, purposeful activities and engaging experiences, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Work in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and support children’s individual interests, needs and next steps.
  • Build positive relationships with children and their families and, where required, take responsibility as a Key Person.
  • Support children’s emotional, social, physical, communication and language development, encouraging confidence and independence.
  • Ensure children with SEND and additional needs are supported through inclusive and child-centred practice.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, safety, hygiene and wellbeing at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and colleagues.
  • Keep appropriate observations and records and contribute to planning and assessment.
  • Help prepare, tidy and organise rooms, resources and activities.
  • Take responsibility for the cleaning and general upkeep of the setting, ensuring rooms, resources and the wider environment are kept clean, safe, organised and welcoming.
  • Follow all setting policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety and safer recruitment requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for children, families and colleagues.

About You

Essential:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare, or an equivalent qualification recognised for EYFS purposes.
  • Experience working with children aged 2–4 in a nursery, preschool, early years or similar setting.
  • A good understanding of child development and the EYFS.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • A caring, patient and positive approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality care and learning experiences.
  • Reliability, professionalism and a willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable:

  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Previous Key Person experience.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
  • Experience working within an Ofsted-registered setting.

You will need to be someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in their work and understands the importance of creating a warm, safe and welcoming environment for children and their families.

Safeguarding

The welfare and safeguarding of children is at the heart of everything we do. The successful applicant will be required to complete our safer recruitment process, including satisfactory references and an appropriate DBS check, along with any other checks required for the role.
