Job Summary

The Librarian is responsible for managing the school library, promoting reading habits, supporting curriculum needs, and ensuring efficient access to print and digital learning resources. The Librarian creates a welcoming learning environment that encourages independent reading and research.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library.
• Organize, catalogue, issue, and maintain library resources.
• Develop and maintain an updated collection of books, journals, digital resources, and reference materials.
• Promote reading through library orientation programmes, reading campaigns, book fairs, and literary activities.
• Assist students and staff in locating and using information resources.
• Maintain library records, circulation systems, inventories, and reports.
• Recommend new acquisitions based on curriculum requirements and user needs.
• Ensure proper care, security, and maintenance of library resources.
• Support information literacy and research skills among students.
• Coordinate with teachers to support classroom learning through library resources.
• Maintain a quiet, safe, and welcoming library environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Library Science/Library & Information Science from a recognized university.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
