University of Patanjali (UOP), located near the tranquil Himalayan foothills in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, is named after Maharshi Patanjali, the sage who compiled the first aphorisms on Yoga around 900 BC. Established under Uttarakhand State Legislature Act No. 4/2006 and approved by the UGC, UOP is sponsored by Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust and affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities. The fully residential campus is known for its holistic approach, integrating Yoga, yajnas, and personalized teaching based on the ancient Guru-Shishya tradition. UOP offers diverse disciplines, including Yoga Science, Naturopathy, and Sanskrit, while emphasizing spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. Its research arm, Patanjali Research Foundation, is renowned for Ayurveda and Yoga studies, with extensive collaborations that enhance student opportunities for internships and placements. Job Summary We are looking for a responsible and organized Librarian to manage the day-to-day operations of the library, maintain library resources, assist users in finding relevant information and ensure a quiet, welcoming, and well-organized learning environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science or equivalent.
• A Master’s degree in Library & Information Science may be preferred.
• The minimum mandatory qualification shall be in accordance with the UGC regulations.
• Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with library management software.
• Knowledge of cataloguing, classification, circulation and digital library resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the library.
• Maintain and organize books, journals, newspapers, magazines, reference materials and digital resources.
• Issue and return books and maintain accurate circulation records.
• Maintain records of new books, damaged books, missing books and withdrawals.
• Assist students, faculty, employees or visitors in locating books and other information resources.
• Maintain an updated library database/catalogue.
• Conduct periodic stock verification and prepare reports.
• Coordinate library activities such as reading programs, book exhibitions and awareness sessions.
• Ensure compliance with library rules and institutional policies.
• Perform other library-related duties assigned by the management.
