Librarian

About the role

A proactive and service-oriented Librarian to support the effective operation and development of library services at the Cyberjaya Campus.

The incumbent is responsible for user services, cataloguing and circulation while also supporting accreditation requirements, collection development, e-resources, information literacy, outreach activities, and other library operations as required.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cataloguing, classification and processing of print and electronic library materials using appropriate library standards
• Maintain accurate bibliographic, item and holdings records in the Library Management System (KOHA)
• Manage circulation services, including borrowing, returns, renewals, reservations, fines and user enquiries
• Conduct or assist with Information Literacy programs, library orientation and user training
• Plan and support library outreach, promotional activities and student engagement programs
• Support the preparation and maintenance of library documentation and evidence for MQA accreditation, program audits and compliance exercises
• Assist in collection development, including checking resource requirements, book availability, new acquisitions and processing of newly received materials
• Support access to and promotion of electronic resources, databases and e-books
• Assist with stock take, shelving, inventory control, missing-item checking and collection maintenance
• Prepare required library statistics, reports and documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, Library Management or a related field from a recognized institution
• Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in a library, preferably in a university or higher education environment
• Knowledge of cataloguing, classification, MARC records and library management systems
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Good time management and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong cataloguing and information organization skills
• Willingness to learn new library systems, technologies and digital resources
