Library Associate

Part-Time Library Associate

Regular Schedule:
Monday: 2:00–6:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Approximately 8 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours as needed

Job Summary

Join our library team as a part-time Library Associate and help us provide a welcoming and helpful environment for our community. This position provides support in a variety of areas based on the day-to-day needs of the library.

The Library Associate will assist patrons, help with library programs and activities, provide circulation desk support, organize library materials, and assist staff with general library operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, is dependable and organized, and is willing to help wherever needed.

Duties

• Provide friendly and helpful customer service to library patrons.
• Assist patrons with locating books, library resources, and basic information.
• Assist with circulation desk duties, including checking materials in and out and other routine circulation tasks.
• Help prepare materials and supplies for library programs and activities.
• Assist with program setup, cleanup, and programs as needed.
• Shelve, organize, and straighten library materials.
• Assist patrons with basic computer and technology needs.
• Perform basic computer work, data entry, filing, and organizational tasks.
• Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of library spaces.
• Help maintain an organized, welcoming, and safe library environment.
• Assist staff with special projects and other library duties as needed.
• Provide occasional additional coverage when available.

• Comfortable working with children, adults, and families.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn library software and procedures.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of duties and changing library needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and assist in different areas of library service.
• Library experience preferred, but not required.

Schedule

The regular schedule for this position is Monday from 2:00–6:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., approximately 8 hours per week.

Additional hours may occasionally be available based on staffing and library needs. Some flexibility for additional hours is preferred.
