Role Description

About the Role

This varied role covers a wide range of important library back-office functions. You will assist with a range of tasks that contribute to the effective management of library collections, ensuring content is fully discoverable and accessible from our library catalogue and other systems, and that access meets user needs as efficiently as possible. This role is responsible for receipting of book orders as well as handling interlibrary loan requests, theses, and reports. Following security clearance checks and training, you will help ensure our processes meet government requirements for storing and handling classified documents. You will also play an important customer-facing role, staffing our Library Welcome Desk and responding to enquiries in person and online through email and webchat.

About You

You should have a good general standard of education (to ‘A’ level or equivalent standard) and have experience in an appropriate library or service environment preferably within the higher education sector. You will be an organised individual with a flexible attitude. Your meticulous attention to detail ensures accuracy across a wide range of tasks, particularly in data entry where precision is key to delivering an excellent experience for our staff and students. Previous experience using SirsiDynix Symphony, Talis Aspire, Koha, RapidILL, or similar products would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with our diverse team members and customers across the University.
