Library officer

Wangaratta, VIC | casual | $47.03 per hour + super (includes 25% casual loading)

Wangaratta Library is looking for an enthusiastic, community-minded individual to join our team as a Casual Library Officer.

If you enjoy connecting with people, delivering outstanding customer service, and creating welcoming spaces where community members can learn, discover and engage, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Library Officer, you will play an important role in providing front-line customer service, supporting library programs and services, assisting patrons with technology and information enquiries, and helping maintain a vibrant and accessible library environment for all visitors.

This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, approachable and passionate about community engagement. While experience working in a library environment would be advantageous, we are primarily seeking a candidate who is eager to help others, enjoys reading, and has a genuine commitment to excellent customer service.

About the Role

This is a casual position with a strong focus on customer service and community engagement. The successful applicant will be required to work a flexible roster, including evenings and Saturday mornings.

What We're Looking For

You will ideally have:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A friendly, welcoming and professional approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Basic computer and digital literacy skills.
  • An interest in books, reading and community activities.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous library experience and/or a VCE (or equivalent) qualification will be highly regarded, but are not essential.

Why Join Us?

At Wangaratta Library, you'll be part of a team dedicated to creating meaningful connections within the community and providing access to information, learning and lifelong reading opportunities. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a valued community service while developing your customer service and library skills.
