Licensed Optician/Apprentice

Responsibilities:

• Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences.
• Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear.
• Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frame materials to help them make informed decisions.
• Process orders for eyewear, including verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations.
• Adjust and repair eyeglasses as needed to ensure optimal comfort and functionality for customers.
• Maintain accurate and organized medical records and patient information in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to provide comprehensive eye care services.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as an optician or in a related field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of retail management principles and practices.
• Familiarity with medical records management, medical billing, and insurance processes.
• Proficiency in using computer systems, including electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and healthcare professionals.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the dispensing area.
• Basic understanding of retail math for pricing, discounts, and sales calculations.
