Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant.

POSITION SUMMARY
A Physical Therapist Assistant is an individual licensed by the Texas board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services to patients in accordance with an established physician plan of care and in compliance with applicable licensre/certification requipremetns, the Texas State Practice Act, and Hunt Memorial Hospital District policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Must maintain continuing education requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.

Minimum Work Experience: No experience is required.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Evidence of current licensure and CPR certification.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to meet minimum hiring standards.

13. Assists in patient treatment according to physician orders and as directed by the physical therapist; seeks assistance with duties as needed.

14. Observes, documents, and reprots patient reaction and response to therapy.

15. Collaborates with physical therapist in developing treatment plans and short/long term goals.

16. Treats patients for purpose of relieving pain, developing/restoring functional capacity, and maintaining maximum performance.

17. Completes accurate and timely documentation.

18. Records treatment and observations on progress notes according to departmental guidelines.

19. Documents teaching and patient/family response to therapy.

20. Adjusts plan of care as indicated by the physical therapist.

21. Participates in discharge planning.

22. Confers with physician and staff as necessary; documents all pertinent informatio and recommendations.

23. Orients, instructs and directs work activities of Rehabilitation Aides.

24. Supervises care rendered by Rehabilitation Aide.

25. Provides comlete instructions for Rehabilitation Aide performing physical therapy procedures.

26. Maintains current knowledge of professional skills and takes advantage of opportunities for enhancement.

27. Maintains current knowledge of safety infection control, and deparmtental policies and procedures.

28. Attends ongoing continuing education prorams and inservices.

29. Attends staff meetings as requested.

30. Participates in performance improvement activities.
