Licensed Practical Nurse

Position Summary

Al-Zoubaidi Vein & Vascular Center of Southern Illinois is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic vascular surgery team. In this role, you will provide high-quality outpatient care for patients managing arterial and venous conditions (such as peripheral artery disease, aneurysms, and varicose veins). You will serve as a vital link between patients and our surgical team, ensuring a smooth, safe, and efficient clinical workflow. This is a full time position.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Preparation:

• Take and record vital signs, height, weight, current medications, and chief complaints.
• Prepare patients for physical examinations and minor in-office procedures, ensuring comfort and proper positioning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Ability to handle stress and make quick decisions under pressure

Clinical & Procedural Support:

• Assist vascular surgeons and team during endovascular and vein procedures.
• Perform specialized wound care, change surgical dressings, and monitor healing progress.
• Administer prescribed oral, topical, and injectable medications or immunizations under provider direction.
• Assist team with preoperative and postoperative patient care.
• Collaborate with other members of the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.
• Assist all providers during clinic on non-surgical days

Patient Education:

• Provide post-procedure care instructions and lifestyle management education to patients and families.
• Reinforce education regarding vascular disease management, compression therapy, and prescribed medications.
• Documentation & Administration:
• Accurately document all patient assessments, interventions, and communications in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in a timely manner.
• Handle patient inquiries, process medication refill requests, and communicate lab or diagnostic test results as directed.
• Clinic Maintenance:
• Maintain clean, safe, and fully stocked exam and treatment rooms.
• Sterilize and prepare reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Licensure/Certification:
• Current, active LPN license in the state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association preferred).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Familiarity with vascular conditions, surgical wound care, and sterile technique is a strong plus.

Skills:

• Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain organized, empathetic, and calm in a fast-paced environment.
