Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Following the care plan, providing treatments, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive patient care outcomes
• Assumes responsibility for assignments given, seeks supervision appropriately, and is accountable for his/her actions by performing within the limits of his/her education and experience
• Performs basic nursing procedures such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and monitoring patient conditions.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician and performs nursing procedures and techniques within scope of practice.
• Use equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently
• Utilizes medical terminology to accurately document patient information
• Lift and transfer patients safely using proper body mechanics
• Provide acute care for patients with various medical conditions
• Administer tube feedings and monitor nutritional status
• Assist with cardiac catheterization procedures

Skills:

• Valid LPN license in the state of New York

• Proficient in suture removal techniques

• Knowledge of dialysis procedures and equipment

• Experience in infant care and knowledge of developmental milestones

• Competent in airway management techniques and CPR certification

• Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices

• Understanding of ophthalmology procedures and post-operative care requirements

• Ability to safely lift and transfer patients using proper body mechanics

• Experience in acute care settings, including monitoring patients' conditions and responding to emergencies

• Proficiency in administering tube feedings and monitoring nutritional status

• Knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and post-procedure care
