ABOUT CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY HEALTH
Cornerstone Community Health is a faith-based internal medicine practice opening in Hindman, Kentucky, serving Knott County and the surrounding Eastern Kentucky region. Founded by Dr. Kassi Marshall, a physician with longstanding roots in this community, CCH is built on the conviction that excellent medical care and genuine compassion are inseparable. We are looking for team members who share that conviction.
POSITION SUMMARY
The LPN supports Dr. Marshall and the clinical operations of the practice across our four-exam-room suite. This role is responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs and chief complaint, preparing exam rooms, assisting with in-office procedures, and supporting the clinical workflow that allows Dr. Marshall to deliver the highest quality, most efficient patient care possible. In a small, faith-based practice, this person will often be a patient's closest point of contact during their visit and the compassion and attentiveness they bring to that interaction matter deeply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Room patients from the waiting room: confirm identity, escort to the exam room, and prepare for the visit.
Obtain and accurately document vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, weight, height, BMI, oxygen saturation) and the patient's chief complaint in the EHR.
Review and update the medication list, allergy list, and relevant health history at each visit as directed.
Prepare and maintain exam rooms between patients: clean and disinfect surfaces, restock supplies, ensure equipment is in working order.
Assist Dr. Marshall with in-office procedures and clinical tasks as directed and within scope of practice.
Administer injections, vaccines, and perform waived laboratory testing (e.g., point-of-care testing) as ordered and within authorized scope.
Process physician orders for laboratory work, diagnostic imaging, and referrals; prepare and transmit orders accurately.
Manage prior authorization requests for medications and procedures as directed by the physician.
Assist with patient education on diagnoses, medications, and care instructions as directed.
Handle prescription refill requests per physician direction and practice protocol.
Maintain clinical supply inventory; notify appropriate staff of restocking needs.
Follow all OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA policies; maintain a safe clinical environment at all times.
Support front-office functions as needed in a small-practice setting.
LPNs may additionally perform expanded clinical tasks within Kentucky LPN scope of practice as directed by Dr. Marshall.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Current, active Kentucky LPN license in good standing.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Minimum 1 year of LPN experience in an outpatient or primary care setting preferred.
Preferred:
Prior experience in an internal medicine or primary care setting.
Proficiency with an EHR system.
Familiarity with chronic disease management workflows (diabetes, hypertension, COPD, cardiovascular disease) — conditions commonly seen in the Eastern Kentucky patient population.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a full-time, on-site clinical position at our Hindman, KY location. The role involves extended periods of standing and walking throughout the clinic, regular bending, reaching, and patient-assist activities, and frequent use of clinical equipment. Ability to lift and assist patients as needed; occasional lifting of supplies up to 35 lbs. Exposure to a clinical environment, including bodily fluids and infectious materials, with appropriate PPE and infection control protocols in place.
WHAT WE OFFER
Cornerstone Community Health is a mission-driven practice where every team member matters. As a new practice in its launch phase, we are building our compensation and benefits structure; specific salary and benefits details will be communicated during the interview process. We are committed to treating every member of our team with the same dignity and respect we extend to every patient.
