Job Summary
Eugene’s Saving Grace Homecare, LLC is seeking two experienced and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide one-on-one nursing care for a pediatric client in Patrick, South Carolina. This case offers 59 hours of nursing care each week, with scheduling coordinated between two nurses.
The ideal candidates will have a background in pediatric nursing, neurological disorders, or caring for individuals with complex medical and developmental needs. Our client requires a nurse who is knowledgeable in seizure management, comfortable following emergency rescue protocols, and experienced in caring for individuals who are nonverbal.
This position is an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a client and family while providing consistent, personalized nursing care in a home setting. We are looking for nurses who are dependable, attentive, patient, and confident in their clinical skills.
Duties
- Provide skilled, one-on-one nursing care in the client's home while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
- Monitor for seizure activity, recognize changes in neurological status, and respond appropriately according to the client's individualized seizure management plan.
- Administer prescribed medications, including seizure rescue medications when indicated, following physician orders, established protocols, and the LPN scope of practice.
- Observe and assess the client's overall condition, reporting changes or concerns promptly to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Use nonverbal communication techniques, behavioral cues, and alternative communication methods to understand and respond to the client's needs.
- Assist with daily care needs while encouraging comfort, dignity, and independence when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation, including medication administration, seizure activity, interventions, and changes in condition.
- Communicate effectively with the client's family, supervising nurse, and other members of the care team.
- Follow all infection control procedures, safety guidelines, and emergency response protocols.
- Complete required documentation and training through Therap or other designated systems as applicable.
Requirements
- Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing in South Carolina.
- Experience in pediatric nursing, private duty nursing, or neurological complex care is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience recognizing and managing seizure disorders, including knowledge of seizure rescue medications and emergency response protocols.
- Experience caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or neurological conditions, including Angelman syndrome or similar conditions, is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with nonverbal clients and recognize nonverbal signs of discomfort, distress, or changes in health status.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Strong clinical observation, assessment, and documentation skills within the LPN scope of practice.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and responsive during medical emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with family members and healthcare professionals.
- Dependable transportation and reliable attendance.
- Willingness to complete client-specific orientation, Therap training, and any required DDSN-related enrollment or training.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for nurses who understand that caring for an adult with complex medical needs requires more than routine supervision. The right candidates will be attentive, compassionate, and confident in recognizing subtle changes in a client's condition.
Experience with seizure disorders and the ability to follow individualized rescue protocols are especially important for this position.
