This is an opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team providing timely, compassionate care to individuals experiencing behavioral health and substance use crises.
The CRC operates 24 hours a day and provides a supportive, therapeutic alternative for individuals who need assessment, stabilization, monitoring, and connection to appropriate ongoing care.
What You'll Do
As an LPN in the CRC, you will provide direct nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Supervisor/Registered Nurse and work closely with prescribers, crisis clinicians, peers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer medications and monitor and document effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.
- Obtain and document vital signs, health information, medication history, and other clinical information.
- Observe individuals for changes in physical or behavioral health status and promptly communicate concerns to the RN, Nurse Supervisor, or appropriate provider.
- Support nursing assessments and ongoing monitoring of individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, substance use concerns, and co-occurring medical needs.
- Carry out authorized provider orders and nursing interventions within LPN scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, medication administration records, and other required clinical documentation.
- Provide medication and health education within scope of practice.
- Assist with medication and medical supply management, infection prevention, and other nursing safety procedures.
- Use therapeutic communication, de-escalation, and a trauma-informed approach to support individuals during crisis.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care coordination, training, emergency preparedness, and quality-improvement activities.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
- Current Virginia LPN license or qualifying multistate license
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Nursing experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, crisis services, substance use treatment, emergency care, residential services, or a related setting
- Experience administering medications and documenting care in an electronic health record
- Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders
The Crisis Receiving Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Positions may include day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts based on the assigned schedule and program needs.
