Job Overview

Mountain View Veterinary Services is a privately owned mixed animal practice. We are dedicated to animal health and inspired by compassionate care. We are looking for a new member to join our fun-loving team in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania! We need a hard working, dedicated, and empathetic individual to fulfill a full time Licensed Veterinary Technician position.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with precision and care
• Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments and diagnostics
• Conduct laboratory work including CBC/Chemistry profiles, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests using veterinary software and equipment, cytological preparation and review, as well as fecal and urine analyses
• Prepare animals for surgery by administering anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining aseptic techniques
• Manage animal husbandry duties such as feeding, grooming, cleaning kennels, and ensuring proper pet care standards are upheld
• We also trust our staff to communicate with clients and team members to provide quality compassionate care to our patients.

Skills

• Proven kennel experience combined with animal husbandry knowledge to maintain clean and safe environments
• Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures for pet dental health management
• Hands-on veterinary surgical care experience including anesthesia monitoring, emergency procedures, and intensive pet care
• Laboratory experience involving phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and sample processing
• Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and surgical assistance techniques
• Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as anesthesia machines, radiology units, and laboratory analyzers
• Excellent animal restraint skills along with knowledge of animal behavior to ensure safe handling during procedures
• Experience with veterinary software systems for record keeping and client communication
• Ability to perform veterinary procedure assistance including catheterization, medication administration, aseptic technique implementation, and anesthesia monitoring
• Bovine and small ruminant experience is a plus for handling larger animals

Our team enjoys a good work-life balance. Full-time employees are scheduled 35-40 hours per week with a lunch break! On-call duties are rotated evenly between members of the care team trained in surgical monitoring - typically one night a week, and one weekend per month. On-call technicians receive a flat fee for time on call as well as additional pay for coming in for emergencies. Our competitive hourly wage starts at $17.00/hr. An increased hourly wage will be considered based on experience and skills. Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
