What they need
About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to join our team, focusing on the rigorous testing and quality assurance of our cutting-edge LiDAR products. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong programming skills, a passion for data analysis, and experience in building robust test solutions for complex systems.
What you'll be doing:
Design, develop, and deploy V&V hardware and software test solutions, systems, and automated test fixtures necessary for comprehensive Lidar sensor characterisation and validation
Contribute significantly to the implementation and maintenance of the test software architecture using industry best practices
Utilize strong Python skills to develop scripts and programs for test automation, data acquisition from sensors, and post-processing of results
Design and develop scenes containing objects placed at several range locations to characterize Lidar systems is a controlled environment
Execute detailed test plans, protocols, and test cases (functional, performance, reliability, environmental, etc.) on Lidar systems
Manage, process, and analyze large datasets generated from testing activities to identify performance trends, system anomalies, and root causes of failures
Generate accurate and timely V&V reports, including detailed test results, summaries, and documentation required for compliance and internal review
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Hardware, Software) to review requirements, ensure testability, and drive timely issue resolution
Participate in defining and refining the overall V&V strategy and best practices under the guidance of the V&V Manager
What you'll have:
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Verification and Validation, Test Engineering, or Quality Assurance for complex hardware/software systems
Experience working with electromechanical or optical systems (experience with Lidar or similar sensor technology is a strong plus)
Strong proficiency in Python for test scripting, automation, and data analysis
Proven experience contributing to or implementing test software architecture and frameworks
Experience with data analysis techniques and tools for handling large datasets (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, MATLAB)
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
Knowledge of measurement instruments and data acquisition hardware
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability in report generation
Highly analytical, methodical approach to problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail
Nice to Have
System-level understanding of Lidar systems, including optics, mechanics, signal processing, and embedded software
Experience with Lidar perception concepts (e.g., point cloud processing, object detection) or other automotive sensor modalities (camera, radar)
Familiarity with industry standards for safety-critical systems, such as automotive safety (e.g., ISO 26262)
